Notes by E.

All Went To Hell

Bass: Tom W.   Drums: Tom H.   Keys: Billy
Guitar (L): Ed   Guitar (R): Ray   Vocals: Stone

Mix: Remixed using Cakewalk 9, again using just 9 of 16 tracks from the Fostex.

I love this track, it's a personal favorite.

What You Want

Bass: Tom W.   Drums: Tom H.   Keys: Billy
Guitar (L): Ed   Guitar (R): Ray   Vocals: Stone   Harp: Rick

Mix: Remixed using Cakewalk 9, again using just 9 of 16 tracks from the Fostex.

        Solid groove, great harp.

Take Me To The Show

Bass: Tom W.   Drums: Tom H.   Keys: Billy
Guitar (L): Ed   Guitar (R): Ray   Vocals: Stone   Harp: Rick

Mix: Remixed using Cakewalk 9, again using just 9 of 16 tracks from the Fostex. This mix represents another step backward. The snare drum track has already gone missing.

        Nice rockin' groove.

Overtime Thing

Bass: Tom W.   Drums: Tom H.   Keys: Billy
Guitar (L): Ed   Guitar (R): Ray   Vocals: Stone

Mix: Remixed using Cakewalk 9, again using just 9 of 16 tracks from the Fostex.

Another song about money -- heh heh.

Waiting

Bass: Tom W.   Drums: Tom H.   Keys: Billy
Guitar (L): Ed   Guitar (R): Ray   Vocals: Stone

Mix: Remixed using Cakewalk 9, again using just 9 of 16 tracks from the Fostex. This mix represents a huge step forward. For the first time all year, the drum tracks are truely discreet. The problem involved the mixer bus sends. A live stereo mix is made each night, and that mix conflicts with how the bus sends have been used. Hopefully, that's all in the past now.

We've been working toward this all year. Ironically, this track is titled "Waiting".

LightSpeed

Bass: Tom W.   Drums: Tom H.   Keys: Billy
Guitar (L): Ed   Guitar (R): Ray   Vocals: Stone   Harp: Rick

Mix: Remixed using Cakewalk 9, using just 9 of 16 tracks from the Fostex.

        Nice slow groove.

Stay

Bass: Tom W.   Drums: Tom H.   Keys: Billy
Guitar (L): Ed   Guitar (R): Ray   Vocals: Stone   Harp: Rick

Mix: Remixed using Cakewalk 9, using just 9 of 16 tracks from the Fostex.

        A classic love song.

Someone To Talk To

Bass: Tom W.   Drums: Tom H.   Keys: Billy
Guitar (L): Ed   Guitar (R): Ray   Vocals: Stone   Harp: Rick

Mix: Remixed using Cakewalk 9, using just 9 of 16 tracks from the Fostex.

        Country style.

BreakingUp

Bass: Tom W.   Drums: Tom H.   Keys: Billy
Guitar (L): Ed   Guitar (R): Ray   Vocals: Stone   Harp: Rick

Mix: Remixed using Cakewalk 9, using just 9 of 16 tracks from the Fostex. This mix uses just 3 drum mics: kick drum, overhead left, overhead right. "Less is more" has never been more true.

        Interesting harp line.

Your Game

Bass: Tom W.   Drums: Tom H.   Keys: Billy
Guitar (L): Ed   Guitar (R): Ray   Vocals: Stone   Harp: Rick

Mix: Remixed using Cakewalk 9. Edited down from almost 10 minutes.

Make Up Your Mind

Bass: Tom W.   Drums: Rick   Keys: Billy
Guitar (L): Ed   Guitar (R): Ray   Vocals: Stone

        Mix: Remixed using Cakewalk 9.

Lights Out

Bass: Tom W.   Drums: Rick   Keys: Billy
Guitar (L): Ed   Guitar (R): Ray   Vocals: Stone   Harp: Rick

Mix: Remixed using Cakewalk 9. This track is unusual, in that Rick plays both harp and drums.

The Sacred Stone

Bass: Tom W.   Drums: Tom H.   Keys: Billy
Guitar (L): Ed   Guitar (R): Ray   Vocals: Stone   Harp: Rick

Mix: Remixed using Cakewalk 9, using 14 of 16 tracks from a Fostex D-160. This is the first remix in four years to access all recorded tracks on the Fostex. (The problem was the settings on the digital/analog converter.)

This track features some hot harp playing by Rick, also some rare solos by Billy. It was edited down to about half it's original length.

Trapped Against My Will

Bass: Tom W.   Drums: Tom H.   Keys: Billy
Guitar (L): Ed   Guitar (R): Ray   Vocals: Stone

Mix: Remixed using Cakewalk 9, using just 6 of 16 tracks from a Fostex D-160. Although this is remixed, the drums all got dumped into six identical tracks on the Fostex by mistake. The result is mono drums on this track.

This track opens with an unsheduled vocal appearance by "Mr. Johnson", Billy's dog.

When You Fall

Bass: Tom W.   Drums: Tom H.   Keys: Billy
Guitar (L): Ed   Guitar (R): Ray   Vocals: Stone   Harp: Rick

Mix: Remixed using Cakewalk 9, using 8 of 16 tracks from a Fostex D-160.

I just love this track, it's so moody and dark. "Falling" is so ambiguous... could it be falling in love? Falling from grace? I never get tired of this one, it's a personal favorite. Nice double solo at the end, too.

The Bottle

Bass: Tom W.   Drums: Tom H.   Keys: Billy
Guitar (L): Ed   Guitar (R): Ray   Vocals: Stone   Harp: Rick

Mix: Remixed using Cakewalk 9, using 8 of 16 tracks from a Fostex D-160.

Summer

Bass: Tom W.   Drums: Tom H.   Keys: Billy
Guitar (L): Ed   Guitar (R): Ray   Vocals: Stone

Mix: Live direct to two track stereo. The guitars are seperated: Ed on left, Ray on right.

This is an Infirmary classic, our signature tune. We've been doing on and off for a few years; it always seems to come out right.

One Too many Piles of Steel

Bass: Tom W.   Drums: Tom H.   Keys: Billy
Guitar: Ed   Guitar: Ray   Vocals: Stone

Mix: Live direct to two track stereo. The guitars are in mono, not seperated.

This track is about the junk cars in Stone's yard -- hehe.

No Time To Say Goodbye

Bass: Tom W.   Drums: Tom H.   Keys: Billy
Guitar: Ed   Guitar: Ray   Vocals: Stone

Mix: Live direct to two track stereo. The guitars are in mono, not seperated.

Nice funky groove by E, and inspired solos by Ray,

Been Up To Something

Bass: Tom W.   Drums: Tom H.   Keys: Billy
Guitar: Ed   Guitar: Ray   Vocals: Stone

Mix: Live direct to two track stereo. The guitars are in mono, not seperated.

Extra funky rhythm by Ray, harebrained solos by E.

Everything You Think About

Bass: Tom W.   Drums: Tom H.   Keys: Billy
Guitar: Ed   Guitar: Ray   Vocals: Stone   Harp: Rick

Mix: Live direct to two track stereo. The guitars are in mono, not seperated.

Good vocal line, mixed way too low. We'll have to redo this one.

Never Ending Changes

Bass: Tom W.   Drums: Tom H.   Keys: Billy
Guitar: Ed     Vocals: Stone   Harp & Vocals: Rick

Mix: Remixed using Cakewalk 9, using 12 of 16 tracks from a Fostex D-160. This was an early multitrack mix, made before the first method used to export tracks broke down.

There's a feedback squeek, but the track was still strong. Pretty good solo by E.
